FAQ
What should I expect from my first psychiatric appointment?
The purpose of the initial interview, is to formulate a diagnosis so that your provider may determine your best treatment options. The first appointment is approximately one hour long. It includes a physical and mental health history, along with a review of your current symptoms. It does not include prodding questions about previous traumatic experiences, as the primary focus is on your current mental health symptoms. Afterwards your provider will go over their impressions, to make medication and treatment recommendations. Together you will create a care plan that best suits your current needs, and future healthcare goals.
When is my follow-up appointment scheduled?
This is dependent on your treatment plan, but follow-ups at the beginning of care are approximately once every 4 week.
